With the League of Nations, which is the holder of the Palestine Mandate entrusted to Britain, officially liquidating its activities, the British Government today notified the League that it intends to retain the Palestine Mandate until “fresh arrangements” are made.
This notification was given today by Viscount Cecil, representing the British Government at the last session of the League. He added that “the future of Palestine cannot be decided until the Anglo-American inquiry committee have rendered their report.” He also reported to the session that Transjordan has been granted independence.
