The need of assisting the Palestine citrus industry during the present season because of the loss of normal export markets is recognized by the British Government, Colonial Undersecretary George H. Hall declared in Commons today.
The Government approves, in principle, proposals to maintain employment and to preserve a reasonable proportion of the matured and fully efficient groves, Hall said in reply to a question. At the same time, it is encouraging other lines of agriculture, particularly local foodstuffs, he said.
Production-details will be worked out with the High Commissioner and will be announced when completed, he added.
