Britain and America today pledged themselves to promote “stability, peaceful development, and prosperity” in the Middle East, it was made know in a joint communique issued on the talks of President Truman and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
The communique expressed hope that the proposed Middle East Command be established as soon as possible because it was thought the Command would prove the best way of relieving tension. British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden and Secretary of State Dean Acheson will continue discussion here on their program to coordinate the British and American policies in the Middle East.
