A spokesman for the Foreign Office here last night welcomed the acceptance by Israel and Egypt of the cease-fire proposal by Maj. Gen E.L.M. Burns. He said that the United Kingdom would give Gen. Burns all support in his efforts to bring peace to the area. Britain has been in close consultation with the United States and France in recent days about the Gaza border situation, and it is believed here that the British view was that no action was necessary under the tripartite agreement of 1950.
