The 76th annual convention of Brith Abraham opened at the Concord Hotel here today at the first session of which the Brith Abraham Justice Award was presented to Abraham D. Beame, Comptroller of the City of New York.
Mr. Beame expressed deep concern for the situation of Soviet Jewry, telling the delegates, “Tens of thousands of Jews are virtually imprisoned by the Soviets. They are prevented from escaping to Israel, and are persecuted in their homes, their synagogues and their communities.
