The 44th annual convention of the Independent Order Brith Abraham will be opened here tomorrow in the presence of nearly a thousand delegates representing a membership of 106,000 divided into 501 lodges. Congressman Nathan D. Perlman, Grand Master of the Order, is presiding at the sessions.
It is expected that the convention will give its approval to the plan of the Executive Board of the Order to establish a colony in Palestine in the name of the I. O. B. A. For this purpose the Order will pledge to raise during the next few years the sum of $100,000 for the Jewish National Fund, which sum will be required to buy the necessary land. The plan has the endorsement of both the present Grand Master, Mr. Perlman, and of former Grand Master Judge Gustave Hartmann. Emanuel Neumann, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, and Dr. S. Margoshes, editor of the “Day,” will address the delegates on behalf of the plan.
Others who are expected to address the convention are Governor Roosevelt and the Rev. Dr. Stephen S. Wise.
