The Brith Sholom Order, a charter member of the American Jewish Committee, today announced here that it has decided to withdraw from the Committee.
“This action was taken as a result of the newly adopted position of the American Jewish Committee which opposes the establishment of a Jewish commonwealth in Palestine,” the announcement said. It emphasized that “the American Jewish Committee’s new position is in direct conflict with the longstanding policy of Brith Sholom with regard to Palestine, as indicated by the Order’s endorsement of the Basle and Biltmore Programs and the Palestine resolution of the American Jewish Conference.”
