Officers of the Brith Sholom, national Jewish fraternal organization of 11,000 members, today presented to Rep. William G. Stratton, Illinois Republican, a 10,000 signature petition endorsing his bill to admit ?00,000 displaced persons to this country.
Stration told Frank A. Simons, grand master of Brith Sholom, Louis I. Gilgor, grand secretary, and I. Irving Tubis, counsel, all of Philadelphia, that he thought ?entiment in the Congress was now favorable to passage of immigration legislation. There is general recognition of the problem that wasn’t there when the session be?an,” he said. He said he thought recent decisions of France and some South American countries to admit refugees might have been influenced by American interest in the immigration question.
