A statement strongly opposing any “attempt by the Zionist Organization to lay hands on the education of Jewish youth and children in the Diaspora” was issued here today by the National Council of the British Agudas Israel Organization.
The statement said that for years education fostered by the Zionist movement has “found disfavor among all leading rabbis, heads of Yeshivoth and rabbinical and lay leaders of Orthodox Jewry throughout the world.” The council also voiced the hope that a religious person will be elected mayor of Jerusalem.
