A spokesman for the British Airline Pilots Association said today that the organization might declare the entire Middle East a “hostile area” and refuse to let its members fly there. He told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that a decision would be made Tuesday when the BALPA executive meets. He said they were still “unhappy” over security measures taken at London Airport since the fatal Swiss air crash of Feb. 21. A spokesman for British airlines said the companies would try to avert a ban on Mideast flights before the BALPA executive meets. It would affect British Overseas Airways (BOAC) which has 22 flights a week to and from Tel Aviv and Cairo and British European Airways (BEA) with 14 weekly flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut.
