Colin Jordan, the imprisoned leader of the fascist British Union movement, remained in prison yesterday instead of facing charges of unprofessional conduct before a committee of the British Union of Teachers.
Jordan, who has served nearly three months of a nine-month sentence for his activities as head of the Spearhead group of the British Nazi movement, had previously said he wanted to appear before the professional conduct committee of the Teachers Union to answer charges of unprofessional conduct outside the classroom. Arrangements had been made for him to be brought before the committee, but Jordan then-changed his mind.
The committee, meanwhile, met as planned and decided to defer the case until Jordan was “free to attend,” Jordan was fired from his teaching post at a Coventry school but he is still a member of the Teachers Union.
