While machinery was being set in motion today for formation of adequately equipped patrols to guard Palestine frontiers against entrance of illegal immigrants, government officials expressed the hope that the project will avert the threat of clashes between volunteer Arab bands and proposed Jewish counter-patrols.

Immediate establishment of a coast guard force with sufficient vessels to keep the coast within thorough control and of a special body of mounted and foot police to place the land borders under intensive surveillance was announced by the administration yesterday. Units of the Transjordan frontier force will cooperate with Palestine police by closely watching the northeast division line, officials further revealed.
