Pressing their search for the slayers of J.L. Starkey, British archaeologist, British police encountered an Arab band near Hebron this morning. An Arab was killed and a policeman wounded in the clash. Several Arabs were arrested in two villages where ammunition and two revolvers were found.
A Jewish bus en route to Talpioth, Jerusalem suburb, was fired upon within a 100 yards of a military camp. There were no casualties.
Additional troops, fully equipped, arrived in Jenin and occupied school buildings. It was understood that further operations against Arab bands were planned.
