A divorce decree granted a non-Jewish wife of a Jew in war-time Germany was declared valid here although the judge who upheld the German court’s action said that he thought the Gestapo had been responsible for the action. The husband in the case is Samuel Igra, who now resides in the United States.
In handing down his decision, the British judge said: “I have no proof, only a strong suspicion, that the decree in this case was given predominantly on racial grounds. Even if it was, the subsequent law of Germany has confirmed its validity.”
