Whether or not members of the proposed legislative council for Palestine would be paid salaries and reimbursed for expenses incurred coincident with their duties in the council cannot be indicated at present, Sir Alfred Cunliffe-Lister, British Colonial Secretary, said in Parliament today.

Sir Philip’s statement was in reply to a question put by Colonel Josiah C. Wedgwood, labor deputy.

The council is being vigorously opposed by both Jewish and Arab leaders as premature and therefore not favorable to the interests of the land.
