In the belief that the Palestine administration will compensate the victims of the Palestine riots and in view of the generous response to the Palestine Emergency Fund Appeal by Jews throughout the world, the British Palestine Emergency Fund, which raised £90,000 ($450,000), decided today to terminate its activities.
At a meeting of the Fund Directors held in the office of Lord Melchett at the Imperial Chemical Institute, a resolution to this effect was adopted. The Committee simultaneously urged a renewal with increased vigor of the activities of the Keren Hayesod Palestine Foundation Fund, the fund raising organ of the Jewish Agency, which were interrupted by the recent riots and the emergency situation created.
Among those present at the meeting were Lord Melchett, Marquis of Reading, O. E. D’ Avigdor-Goldsmid, and Simon Marks.
