The British Foreign Office today insisted that Jewish troops have made a new incursion into Egypt, reaching a point three miles south of Haifa. The report was attributed to a “British source.”
Commenting on Israel’s acceptance of the U.N. Security Council’s cease-fire ?ier in the Negev, a Foreign Office spokesman stated that “if this means the Security council’s resolutions of Nov. 4 and 16 are to be honored, we welcome it.” Asked whether Britain would be satisfied if Egypt is satisfied with a cease-fire agreement, without a withdrawal of troops in the Negev, the Briton said: “We want the Security council’s resolutions Implemented.”
Echoing the Conservatives’ demand for British de facto recognition of Israel, ? the London Times asserted today that “at a time when the militarists in Israel threat? en to gain the upper hand” such recognition should be extended.

London report that Israeli forces have established a permanent military post on Egyptian soil, that the United States Government has no reasons to believe that assurances ? made by the Israeli Government that all of its troops have been withdrawn from Egyptian territory were not sincere and accurate. “We have no reason to believe the Israeli Government did not mean what it said,” the Department spokesman added.)
