The British Government has granted permission to the Committee for Jewish Refugees here to bring to Britain 1,000 Jewish children from the concentration camps in Germany, it was announced today by Otto Schiff, chairman of the organization.
The children will be placed under the supervision of Jewish organizations and will be maintained by Jewish relief funds collected in Britain.
The controversy concerning the 92 Jewish children from German concentration camps who, after being brought to Paris, were placed by French authorities in a non- Jewish welfare institution against the wishes of Jewish welfare organizations is attracting special attention here.
Authoritative sources pointed out today that the agency which should settle the dispute is the Inter-Governmental Committee for Refugees since, under existing agreements, supreme responsibility with regard to the ultimate destination of displaced persons is vested in the Inter-Governmental Committee. Palestine visas, have been reserved for all the 92 children who are, temporarily, in a non-Jewish children’s home near Paris.
