Notable figures from the British and Israeli theater world attended a luncheon here today to mark the establishment of a Variety Club in Israel. The club will receive its charter at a formal inauguration to take place at the Tel Aviv Hilton Hotel on November 5.
The guest of honor at today’s luncheon, given by the Variety Club of Great Britain, was Chaim Topol, one of Israel’s leading actors, who plays the role of Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof.” Other guests included Israel Ambassador Aharon Remez and members of his staff; A.R. Moore, of the Israeli Foreign Office; Larry Adler and Stanley Baker. Col. James Carreras, executive chairman of the Variety Clubs International, presided.
