Indignant denials of reprisals against German employees or West German-mads products were made today by spokesmen of some of London’s largest Jewish-owned firms. Statements by the West German Embassy that such reprisals had taken place were described as “nonsense” by a spokesman for the “600 Croup, ” owned by George Cohen and Sons. The Great Universal stores, owned
by Isaac Wolfson, millionaire industrialist and philanthropist, Lyons and Company. and Marks and Spencer also officially denied any reprisal or boycott actions.
The West German Embassy asserted here last night that the three British firms had dismissed their German employees as a gesture of protest against the upsurge of anti-Semitic incidents in West Germany.
