A delegation representing leading sectors of British Jewry conferred this weekend with Lord Dundee, British Minister of State in the Foreign Ministry, and expressed its concern over various “difficulties” facing Russian Jewry.
The delegation, headed by Chief Rabbi Israel Brodic and Sir Barnett Janner, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, draw Lord Dundee’s attention particularly to obstacles placed in the way of Russian Jewry’s rights to form its own religious and cultural community.
Meanwhile, Chief Rabbi Brodie’s office announced today that the conference of Anglo-Jewish organizations; to consider the plight of Russian Jewry, will be held on Feb. 13. One of the principal issues to be discussed at that parley will be the provision of matzoh for Russian Jews in time for next Passover.
Among the organizations invited to the conference are the Board of Deputies; the Anglo-Jewish Association, which initiated the move for the country-wide meeting of British Jews on the Russian-Jewish issue; the British section of the world Jewish Congress; the British Central Fund; and the Federation of Jewish Relief Organizations.
