All branches of British Jewry’s religious community participated in special services at Marble Arch Synagogue here last night marking the 20th anniversary of Israel’s independence. The event was sponsored by the United Synagogue, the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, the Federation of Synagogues, the Zionist Federation and the Mizrachi Federation. Chief Rabbi Immanuel Jakobovits of the British Commonwealth participated in the services along with the Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community and other religious leaders. (Denmark’s small Jewish community celebrated Israel’s 20th anniversary here today with services at Copenhagen’s main synagogue and at a gala concert in the famed Tivoli Gardens which was addressed by the Danish Minister of Justice. The event was sponsored by the Danish-Israel Society. Special celebrations were also held in Jewish schools.)
