Tribute to newly-appointed Justice Felix Frankfurter and just retired Justice Louis D. Brandeis was voiced today at a meeting of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The board was asked by President Neville Laski to send formal congratulations and good wishes to Justice Frankfurter, whose appointment “is acclaimed as one in the high traditions of the United States.” British Jewry, Mr. Laski said, also wishes to express its good wishes to Mr. Brandeis on his retirement after “a most distinguished career, which shed luster not only upon the judiciary of the United States, but on the Jewish community.”
The members of the board stood silent when Mr. Laski, in opening the meeting, paid tribute to the late Pope Pius XI.
