Although a Scotland Yard inspector testified that the British League of Ex-Servicemen is a front for Mosleyites, a local magistrate today refused to drop charges against seven Jewish veterans arrested for breaking up a public meeting of the League in the Jewish-populated East End, and sentenced them to twelve months on probation.
The magistrate stated, however, that “if people come to an essentially Jewish district to talk anti-Semitism and stir up racial hatred, and incite, abuse and provoke the people there, they must take what’s coming to them.” He added that “I should support the police in any action they took to keep down such talk.”
