Lord Pakenham, British Minister for Occupied Territories, today received Dr. Noah Barou, leader of the World Jewish Congress, who presented his views on conditions in the displaced persons camps in Germany and reported on the disembarkation of the Exodus Jews, which he witnessed while in Hamburg.

A Foreign Office spokesman today refused to comment on a French plan, revealed by the Quai D’Orsay yesterday, for the admission of the Exodus refugees from Germany to France. All the spokesman would say was that the matter was under discussion and that certain minor details were being worked out.

A meeting protesting the forced disembarkation of the Exodus Jews was held here last night under the auspices of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. The meeting was chaired by Barnett Janner, Labor M.P., and featured speakers were Prof. Selig Brodetsky and Berl Locker, members of the Jewish Agency.

The London Economist in its current issue attacks the government for deporting the Exodus immigrants to Germany and declares that it should make amends for its “casual thoughtlessness” by admitting to Britain a large number of DP’s, including Jews. Referring to the UNSCOP report the publication says that in order to prevent a Jewish-Arab war, America must take “a more realistic view of its own responsibilities as principal Zionist patron.”
