The British Minister of Information will be asked in the House of Commons to give an explanation as to why Prof. Eugen Mittwoch and Prof. Schact, two Jewish refugees from Germany, are in possession of passes which give them entry into any government office, it was announced here today.
The two Jewish professors are experts in Arabic and Persian phraseology and calligraphy and are assisting the Ministry of Information on matters concerning Arabian and Persian problems. Prof. Mittwoch has been working with the British Broadcasting Corporation since last July, and it is stated that he participated in official sessions of a government committee at which the British policy with regard to Iran and Iraq was discussed. Replying to a question by Sir Waldron Smithers on November 19 last, Mr. Brendan Bracken, Minister of Information, said that Professor Mittwoch and Professor Schacnt had no opportunity to obtain any confidential information, nor had they access to any confidential papers.
