Hugh Fraser, a Conservative MP, who narrowly escaped death along with his house guest, Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, when a bomb exploded under his car this morning, is a life-long Zionist. He is chairman of the Parliamentary group of the Conservative Friends of Israel, which comprises 88 Conservative MPs, Fraser was about to leave his home when a phone call from a fellow MP detained him, causing him to escape the bomb blast.

Fraser, a constant and vocal speaker for Israel, incurred the wrath of the pro-Arab lobby when addressing a victory rally after the Six-Day War. While London’s police have opened intensive investigations, they are not saying whether they are looking into Arab involvement, Fraser is a prominent member of an old Catholic family. His wife is Lady Antonia Fraser, the historian, Caroline Kennedy is a friend of the Erasers’ daughter, Flora.
