A British Army court martial today found Major Ralph H.T. Newman of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps guilty of “scandalous conduct unbecoming the character of an officer and gentleman” in having received about 16,000 pounds as part of the proceeds of the sale of arms and ammunition to Jews in Palestine in May, 1948. The findings of the court are subject to confirmation. The court has not yet announced the sentence to be imposed.
