The Jewish population of Palestine was appealed to today to assist the police in curbing the recurrent outbreaks of terror by Jewish extremists, latest of which was a daring daylight robbery of government stores in Tel Aviv last Saturday.

A proclamation issued jointly by Sir Bernard C. Paget, British Commander-in-Chief in the Middle Bast, and John V. M. Shaw, Acting High Commissioner for Palestine, declares that such acts are calculated to assist the enemy and directly impede Britain’s war effort.

Asserting that the army and the police are taking all possible measures to apprehend the terrorists, the proclamation says that verbal condemnation of the outbreaks by Jewish leaders is not sufficient and asks active collaboration and “especially information leading to the apprehension of these assassins and their accomplices.”

It calls on the Jews to “do their utmost to eradicate this evil thing in their midst” and points out that “the good name of the Jewish population ought not to be prejudiced by acts which can only bring dishonor upon the Jewish people as a whole.”

Meanwhile, police report that some of the goods stolen from the warehouse of the Department of light Industry, on Saturday, have been recovered. They were found at the settlement of Rishon L’Zion.
