The British Chief Rabbinate Conference today unanimously endorsed the nomination by the Chief Rabbinate Committee of Dr. Jacob Herzog, deputy director general of Israel’s Foreign Ministry, as Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the British Commonwealth. Dr. Herzog, who succeeds Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie who is retiring, accepted the nomination last week when a delegation of the Chief Rabbinate Committee called on him in Jerusalem.
