The British Board of Review, highest restitution court in the British zone of Germany, today ruled that German Jews who paid the discriminatory tax imposed on Jews by the Nazi regime in 1938 are not entitled to claim restitution for the amount of the tax.
The ruling was handed down on a claim for restitution brought on behalf of Jews who now reside outside of Germany. The tax was one of many discriminatory measures against the Jews which followed the Nazi pogroms of November 9-10, 1938.
