Leon Simon, formerly director of telegraphs in England and now director of savings at the General Post Office, was reported today to be critically ill with pneumonia.

Mr. Simon is 54 years old. He has been in the British civil service for thirty-one years. The son of the late Rev. Isadore Simon, for many years rabbi of the South Manchester Hebrew Congregation, he is known as an ardent Zionist and is a Hebraist of note.
