The cause of the rights of all minorities in Eastern Europe was very strongly championed at the dinner given Dec. 11, by the American Committee on the Rights of Religious Minorities, at the Yale Club. The special guest of the occasion was the Right Honorable Sir Willoughby Dickinson of London, former member of the British Parliament, now chairman of the Committee on Minorities of the League of Nations Union, England, and Honorable Secretary of the World Alliance for Promoting International Friendship Through the Churches.

A report was presented by a delegation which went to Europe to study conditions affecting the minorities. The chief speaker of the occasion was Sir Willoughby Dickinson who told of the efforts which are being made abroad in behalf of the minorities both by the League of Nations Union and by the League of Nations itself. He referred sympathetically to the struggle which the Jews are making for the maintenance of their rights and referred specifically to the work of the Joint Foreign Committee of London which is led by Mr. Lucien Wolf. He emphasized the necessity of awakening public opinion in favor of securing justice for the different minority groups of the population.

Dr. Stephen S. Wise, speaking in behalf of the struggle for Jewish rights in Europe, referred to the work of both the Joint Foreign Committee in London and the Committee of Jewish Delegations in Paris.

Mr. Henry Morgenthau, in his address, referred to the question of the rights of minorities as it came up in Paris at the time of the Peace Conference and told of a conversation he had with representatives of the Roumanian Government whom he reminded of the previous failure to recognize the rights of Jews as citizens of their country.
