The British Trade Union Congress, marking its centenary year, today reaffirmed its support of Israel’s demands for direct peace negotiations with its Arab neighbors leading to mutual recognition and lasting peace. The statement of support was made by TUC leaders to Aharon Becker, secretary-general of Histadrut, Israel’s labor federation. The British labor officials said their stand remained unchanged after a TUC fact-finding delegation visited Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan. Mr. Becker addressed a session of the TUC yesterday. He invited the organization to send a delegation to Israel to witness the planting of a Trade Union Congress forest in the hills near Jerusalem. He said the forest will represent a tribute to the TUC on the occasion of its centenary.
