Declaring that he is in possession of certified documents showing not less than 10,000 cases of persecution in Nazi Germany, Walter Citrine, British labor leader, addressed a meeting here last night at the Kingsway Hall, calling for intensification of the boycott against Germany.
The meeting was addressed also by F. Lewis Donaldson, Canon of Westminster Abbey, who declared that “we have a right to intervene when a nation runs amuck.” He sharply denounced the racial hatred spread by the Nazis against the Jews.
Mr. Citrine in his address pointed out that “the boycott against Germany is the spear head in the struggle against dictatorship.” He called upon Jews and non-Jews of Great Britain to abstain from purchasing German goods and services.
REPORT TRADE RISE
The Manchester Guardian in a report from Berlin, states that for the first time since November of last year the German monthly return of foreign trade shows a favorable balance. The excess of exports over imports for March is $5,000,000, the paper reports.
A feature of the March returns is the improvement in the export of manufactured goods. The barter arrangement which Germany has concluded with foreign countries is also one of the main factors responsible for the improvement in the German trade balance.
