Percy Baker, one of the collaborators of the late Har Moses Gaster in the establishment of the Chovevei Zion movement in England, was killed together with his wife and son and Rabbi Solomon, a German refugee, during a recent air aid in London, it was disclosed today. Baker was 65.
The Emergency Committee for Religious Education of Jewish Children has arranged with the London County Council’s Evacuation Department for departure of Jewish children in organized groups for reception areas. Special registration offices have been opened in a number of Jewish schools and synagogues.
One synagogue which opened its doors to homeless persons from the bombed district of Northwest and East London is now sheltering a hundred evacuees.
