Lew Brodsky, prominent Jewish industrial magnate and philanthropist of Kiev, is dead in Berlin, an exile from Russia.
Brodsky was a leading figure in Russia up to the collapse of the Czariet regime. He was one of Europe’s greatest sugar magnates, operating with his brother 28 factories in different parts of the country.
Among his other industrial achievements was the introduction of the first electric street car system. He was the recipient of many honors from the Czarist government, and was made a member of the Legion d’Honeur of France.
