Courses in conversational Hebrew, Jewish history, the Yiddish language, Jewish literature and Jewish social service are to be given at the Bronx House Institute of Jewish Culture during the new term which commences on Monday, October 20th. Miss Mary Caplan is headworker of Bronx House; Samuel Griff is assistant headworker, and Jacob Ben Lighman is director of the Institute.
In announcing the course in conversational and written Yiddish, the Institute of Jewish Culture states: “This course, because Yiddish was the language of the Galuth, is being taught from a purely cultural point of view. It is allied with no movement for or against the perpetuation of Yiddish.”
