Hank Greenberg of the Detroit Tigers will get a hero’s welcome tonight when his home Borough, the Bronx, stages a celebration in the hard-hitting first baseman’s honor at the McKinley Square Gardens, 1260 Boston road.
Sports organizations, political clubs and several of Hank’s former teachers at James Monroe High School are joining in the reception. Among the latter are Al Selkin, baseball coach; Irwin Dickstein, basketball coach; Dr. Jake Gusick and Julius Zifferblatt, handball coaches; and James Salta, soccer mentor.
