A large Herzl memorial meeting was held last night under the auspices of the Brookline Zionist organization at Nantasket Beach, near here, with Jacob de Haas, Zionist leader and Herzl biographer, as the principal speaker.
Discussing Dr. Herzl’s contributions to Zionism, Mr. de Haas said it was the Jewish state idea. He urged Zionists to regard Herzl’s life and achievements with a spirit of devotion and sacrifice and help rebuild Palestine as a Jewish national home quickly in order to provide shelter for a half million German Jews.
Others who addressed the meeting were Mrs. Jennie Loitman Barron, Judge Jacob J. Kaplan, I. J. Lowe, Rabbi Joseph S. Shubow, Coleman Silbert and Judge Francis S. Wyner. Samuel B. Finkle, president of the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods and of the Brookline Zionists, presided at the meeting Cantor Sol Fuchs officiated.
