Brooklyn “federation Day” Has $200,000 Goal

Nathan D. Shapiro, president of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities, issued an appeal today urging Brooklyn Jewry to make substantial contributions to clear the Federation’s deficit of $200,000, which four hundred business and professional men will attempt to raise today, which has been designated as “Federation Day.”

“Federation Day” will be inaugurated with a breakfast at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and will be concluded with a dinner and rally at the Unity Club. At the breakfast, the four hundred volunteer workers will be assigned prospect lists, and will devote the entire day to solicitation throughout the borough.

Preparatory to launching a home safety campaign, the Baltimore Safety Council names Dr. Florence E. Bamberger, professor of education at the Johns Hopkins University, a chairman of its home safety committee an also elected her to membership on the board a control. Dr. Bamberger is the first woman member of this body.

After a series of conferences with parent teacher and various women’s organizations Dr. Bamberger will select the members to serve on the home safety committee.

Judge Abraham Wotsey of Stamford, Conn., was inducted into office in the Stamford City Court by retiring Judge James F. Brinckerhoff.
