Fannie Rachel Moses of Brooklyn was chosen “Queen Esther” and Esther Manischewitz of Cincinnati, O., “lady-in-waiting,” in the contest conducted by the Jewish National Workers’ Alliance and the New York “Day.”
The contest, which was in progress several months, was entered by girls from all over the country, selection being made by popular vote. The winners will leave this week on a tour of Palestine.
Bina Abramowitz, of the Yiddish Art Theatre, crowned Miss Moses as “Queen Esther” at a ball held Saturday night at the 71st Regiment Armory, New York. The judges were Prof. Enrico Glicenstein, William Auerbach Levy, Mrs. Archibald Silverman, Maurice Schwartz, Alfred W. Norek and Dr. Samuel Margoshes.
