Nazi newspapers reaching here today report that German officials in Rumania plan to establish ghettos in a number of districts in Moldavia, to where Jews from Bucharest and other cities in Old Rumania will be deported.
The Donau Zeitung, a Nazi newspaper published in Belgrade for the Balkan countries, declares that “all Bucharest Jews without regular occupations will be sent to these new ghettos together with their families.” The ghettos will be under German administration.
Prague newspapers reaching here today carry warnings by the authorities, admonishing the non-Jewish population in the Czech Protectorate not to give any shelter to Jews and “to see to it that no Jew is left in any of the Moravian towns.” This, the warning says, is in the interest of the Czechs themselves. The same newspapers report that the “thorough removal” of Jews has been speeded up in all of Bohemia and Moravia. Entire regions, such as Jecin, have already been made “judenrein.”
