The police today prohibited mention of the Palestine White Paper at a mass meeting arranged to protest the new British policy. The order was issued just as speakers were about to address the rally and was accompanied by a threat to dissolve the meeting if it were violated. Former Deputy Samuel Singer thereupon announced, amid a dead silence, that Rumanian Zionists would find a way to present their views on the Palestine policy to the Rumanian and British Governments. Psalm 137 was then recited by a weeping audience.
