The city government of the Hungarian capital is lending direct support to anti-Semitic organizations in the country, it was charged by members of the Opposition party at a stormy session of the City Council Saturday.

The charge was made and confirmed by members of the Christian Socialist Party that the administration of the Budapest street cars officially collects from its employees membership dues for the Awakening Magyars, anti-Semitic groups.

The members of the Christian Socialist Party stated that this practice will be continued.

Simultaneously, a heated fight is going on in Parliament over a bill which, if passed, will silence all critics of the government in power. A bill introduced concerning new press regulations would make unlawful the publication by the newspapers of even parliament reports which may be considered “improper.” This refers in particular to the reproduction of remarks made by members of parliament during debates.
