The Budapest municipality has passed a law changing pay day in all municipal government institutions from Saturday to Wednesday. The action was taken following the suggestion of Councillor Korein, acting in behalf of the Hungarian Sabbath Observers Alliance. All communal institutions have been informed of the change.
The efforts of the Sabbath Observers Alliance have also resulted in having a number of other institutions shift their pay days from Saturdays to Wednesday.
It is believed that this new regulation will be beneficial to Jewish shopkeepers and traders who lost considerable trade because they were closed on the Sabbath.
