The annual conference of Hungarian Nazis today was raided by strong police detachments. Several Nazis were arrested and the police removed a quantity of anti-Semitic literaure which had been distributed by the Nazis on the streets of Budapest.
The chief speaker at the Nazi conference was the Hungarian deputy, Mesko, who made an inciting anti-Semitic speech. Mesko declared that although the Hungarian Nazis were forbidden to wear the swastika, and the green shirt and pointed cross had been substituted for the German Nazi insignia, nevertheless, the Hungarian Nazis remain “in their hearts in solidarity with Germany”, particularly on the Jewish question.
The Hungarian government has recently taken a strong stand against the Nazi movement in Hungary, suppressing with vigor, attempts to set up a strong Nazi organization.
