All applications by Jews for membership in the Theatre and Film Chamber have been rejected by the chamber’s board, it was announced here. Under the new legislation, membership in their specific chambers is obligatory on all seeking employment in their professions, and those not in the chambers are barred from work.
In rejecting the Jewish applications, the board ruled that Jewish membership in the chamber was now 6.3 per cent and that further applications from Jews could be considered only when the percentage fell below the six per cent maximum fixed by the anti-Jewish laws.
Holders of trade licenses who, according to provisions of the anti-Jewish measures, are Jews, are warned by placards bearing the signature of Mayor Karl Szande of Budapest, that they must fill out special forms giving all particulars about themselves and submit them personally to the administrative district authorities. Heavy penalties for non- compliance or for falsification are specified.
