According to the Official Commercial Bulletin, 4,678 building permits were granted in Palestine in 1926 of a value of £E.112,441. Municipalities expended a further £E.217,528 on public works. The Government spent nearly £E.160,000 and the military forces £E.42,542 on construction and repairs.
In Jerusalem new buildings costing £E.393,449 were sanctioned, as compared with £E.226,936 in 1925, and in Haifa for £E.156.030, as compared with £E.111,100 in 1925.
