A new moshav collective settlement will be founded this year in the southern section of the occupied Golan Heights, the Jewish National Fund reported today. The JNF said the infra-structure has been completed and that it expects the first settlers to move in before the end of this year. The land agency added it had prepared 200 dunams of the 400 dunams to be made available to settlers as a first stage. The initial prospective settlers are members of the Bnei Akiva religious movement.
The JNF also announced completion of 22 kilometers (10 miles) of what is scheduled to become the main road in the Golan Heights, a road from Ramot Hamagshimim running north to south in the region. Currently, the completed portion is being used only by military units but eventually, the JNF said, it will serve the Jewish settlements of the area by opening a route to virgin pasture lands for cattle and sheep in the central heights.
